Hello, I’m Anne Hellyer, a Hampshire artist who creates hand-painted textile art by combining my love of paint and textiles with free machine embroidery.

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in both drawing and painting. At the age of six my Grandmother introduced me to her sewing machine and I have loved working with textiles ever since.

After joining my local branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, I became inspired to study with City & Guilds for a qualification in Creative Embroidery.

Each year I regularly take part in Craft shows, give talks and demonstrations to creative groups around the UK and am lucky enough to teach my craft to others through group workshops.

I love being able to share my passion with like-minded individuals and I am also lucky enough to exhibit with both the Andover Embroiderers’ Guild and the ZeroNine Textile Artists Group.

In both groups, we all have something different to offer – we all enjoy working as individuals, but find it so inspiring to work alongside other artists.

I hand paint all of the fabric I use and then print the finer details on top, embellishing further with machine stitch. Each piece is individually designed and created by me in my Hampshire home.

I create work that is flexible, allowing you to change location and positioning as the mood takes you! Each piece is self supporting so they do not require frames and can be either free standing or wall mounted, manipulated into a shape or hung “flat”.
