One day Free Machine Embroidery workshops:
I will provide full tuition for up to 15 students, a busy but fun day for all.
Once booked I will send you a full requirements list. I can also provide a kit for each student (at an additional cost) or students can bring their own materials. Although I use my own hand painted fabric, students are welcome to use commercially produced fabrics if they prefer.
Each student will need to provide their own sewing machine, with the facility to do free-machine embroidery as well as a traditional straight stitch.
Additionally, students will also need to provide a variety of machine threads (colours will be listed in the workshop details).
Each 1 day workshop costs £175
plus travel expenses at 45p per mile (I am based in Andover, Hampshire)

POCKETED SKETCH BOOK
I have repeatedly been asked how I make my sketch books, so have added this new workshop.
Please don’t be put off by the word “Sketch” adults are often afraid of drawing but the book could be filled with drawings of patterns, mementoes of a trip, your thoughts, notes or photos,
Students will make a small sketch book that has pockets for additional notes, sketches, or mementos.
I will provide a full requirements list. I can also provide a “kit” for an additional cost of £7.50 per student. Or, alternatively, students can bring their own papers, paints, pens etc.
SKETCHBOOK (2)
A concertina sketch book – pictures below show 2 different size books. They can be made with hand dyed paper or if you prefer a variety of different papers, wall paper, brown paper, tracing paper to name just a few.
I will provide a full requirements list. I can also provide a “kit” for an additional cost of £7.50 per student. Or, alternatively, students can bring their own papers, paints, pens etc.

PAINT & 2 VEG
You will print your own design using paints, a potato and a carrot.
Designed for an introduction to free motion embroidery, it is however suitable for all abilities, for those new to the technique or as a refresher course for those who are a bit “rusty” or just for a day doing something a bit different.
You will learn how to “draw” with your sewing machine – once you have created your design you will stitch it to make either a small zipped bag, a needle case, or brooches. Further embellishment such as hand stitch and buttons or beads can be added.

Although I use my own hand painted fabric, students are welcome to use commercially produced fabrics if they prefer.

SEA MONSTER PIN CUSHIONS
These fun little creatures can be created using either hand or machine stitch. There will be a variety of “features” to choose from and once finished the “bodies” are filled with sand to help keep your pins sharp.

HOME IS WHERE THE ART IS – A5 PICTURE
In this workshop, we will use a 6″ x 4″ photograph of your house, or a feature that you particularly like, or a favourite building. You will design your own picture from the photograph.
If you prefer the design can be made into an A5 book cover. It will slip onto the book and can be reused once the book is full. They make ideal gifts for people if you pop a diary or an address book into them!

SET THE TOWN ALIGHT – NIGHTLIGHT – my most popular workshop to date.
In this workshop, you will create a beautiful 3D wrap suitable for use with LED string lights or a battery operated tea- light candle.
You can choose from either the winter townscape or snowy townscape designs (see image below).
I will provide a full requirements list. I can also provide a kit (excluding machine threads) for an additional cost of £12.50 per student. Or, alternatively, students can bring their own fabrics. Although I use my own hand painted fabric, students are welcome to use commercially produced fabrics if they prefer.

BEACH HUT – NIGHTLIGHT
Following a conversation with a group of students, I have designed another 3D wrap which is suitable for use with LED Fairy Lights or a battery-operated candle. This time, with a Beach Hut / Seaside theme.
I will provide a full requirements list. I can also provide a kit (excluding machine threads) for an additional cost of £12.50 per student. Or, alternatively, students can bring their own fabrics. Although I use my own hand painted fabric, students are welcome to use commercially produced fabrics if they prefer.

BEACH HUT ACCESSORY BAG
In this workshop you will make a fully-lined zip up bag for a small sewing kit, makeup, or any other odds and ends you want to keep together. The final product measures approximately 20 x 15 cm.

A RUG FOR YOUR MUG
PLEASE NOTE: The days teaching will be for ONE of the designs – organisers must decide in advance which design they would like to complete.
This is a heat resistant mat, just right for your coffee or tea break, choose from either a single beach hut or row of houses, or make it as a gift for a friend or family member.

Using my hand painted fabrics create a bright, cheerful sunflower, once the technique has been learnt why not go home and make a big bunch to brighten up your home.

I am running a 2 day workshops for designs inspired by either hostas or bamboo.
Full details are on my ” 2 Day Workshop” page. If you chose to book this as a one day workshop you would not finish the piece in the day but would have received enough tuition and completed enough of the design to be able to take it home and finish.
Photographs below show samples as cushions but the design could also be used to make a pictures, a hanging or make several and use as a table runner
